The RISC and the CISC architecture are architectures used un the design of CPU, the RISC means Reduced Instruction Set computers and the CISC means Complex Instruction Set Computers . Some of the differences between them include:

  1.  RISC executes one instruction per clock cycle, while the CISC architecture take more than one clock cycle to execute an instruction.
  2. The RISC uses more RAM than the CISC
  3. RISC has fewer instruction set than the CISC
  4. CISC uses more transistors in the hardware to execute more complex instructions
  5. The original Instruction set Architecture was CISC
