Generally mathematics cuts across virtually almost everything and anything we do.

The question really should be how much mathematics is needed?

Now for science and engineering fields, they deal heavily with mathematics. Mathematics forms the foundation for which most computing theories are laid. A course like computer science deals with mathematics.

Software engineering might be seen as a more specific course than computer science and deals mainly with the development of software, still a degree of mathematics will be applied in both problem solving during app development and also in mathematics related courses during the study of software engineering.

Knowledge of mathematics will go a long way and will also give you an added advantage.
