Generally, DBMS controls the database using SQL commands such as insert, select, update or delete. One of the major roles of DBMS is to ensure data consistency and accuracy within a database.

A Database administrator (DBA) has complete control over the database. Only DBA can decide which user can only view or modify the records into a database.

Below are some of the benefits of using a Database Management System:

Data sharing: Multiple users can access the same data simultaneously, and they can share data. Using DBMS, two users can access the same data but cannot perform modifications at the same time to preserve the integrity of data.

Minimized Redundancy: Traditional file systems have multiple copies of the same data stored in various places, but DBMS removes such duplicity of data. Data are stored in a single database, and any modification is reflected immediately.

Data Integrity: It is necessary to store data in accurate and consistent form. DBMS ensures data integrity by inhibiting the changes to be performed on the same data concurrently by multiple users.

Simple Data access: DBMS provides quick and faster data retrieval from a database by using simple queries.

Data Security and Privacy: An efficient DBMS delivers high-end security of data by allowing only authorized users to access or change the data from the database. They are provided with unique usernames and passwords by checking their authenticity.

Backup and Recovery: If any abrupt crash or failure occurs within a database, DBMS must take the backup of the whole data and recover the original data.
