The base station takes the following two actions to ensure that the loss probability of a transmitted frame does not increase when a mobile node gets farther away from a base station.

1. Increasing the transmission power: Because the bit error rate (BER) will be decreased as the transmission power increases.

2. Using a modulation technique with lower bit transmission rate: Because the higher bit transmission rate causes higher BER.
