Difference between permanent address and care-of address:

Permanent addressCare-of address
An IP address given to a mobile node in its home network is called the permanent address.An IP address given to a mobile node in a foreign network is called the care-of address.
It is a permanent address given to a mobile node.It is a temporary address given to a mobile node.

The foreign agent assigns care-of address for mobile nodes in a foreign network. The care-of addresses are automatically de-registered when the mobile nodes moves to a new network.
