The ARP, which is known as the Address Resolution Protocol. The ARP protocol that is used for finding the MAC address that corresponds to a specific IP address. If sender wants to send a packet to a specific IP, it broadcast a message requesting the MAC address that corresponds to the IP of that specific address. Now if that IP is on the same LAN, when it sees the message it responds back with its MAC address.
