It is important to avoid deep level inheritance hierarchies because deep class hierarchies are more difficult to work with and to maintain than flat ones. A rule of thumb suggested by Riel is stated as :  "inheritance hierarchies should be no deeper than an average person can keep in his or her short-term memory." This goes further to say If a class hierarchy is deeper than, five or six levels, consider it a candidate for refactoring.
